Last year in my Philosophy of Ethics class, I wrote my final paper comparing John Stuart Mill’s book Utilitarianism to Vulcan culture, and in the end managed to relate each main character of Star Trek: The Original Series to an ethical theory we discussed in class.
This year in my Philosophy of Aesthetics class, I’m writing my final paper on Data the android’s artistic attempts in his pursuit of humanity. I’m relating each of his works to aesthetic concepts we’ve discussed in class, to try and see what is and isn’t art, and if these attempts did in fact make him more human.
I kind of want to take an international studies class next semester, just so I can write a paper discussing Captain Janeway’s ethical dilemmas regarding the Prime Directive.
If nerd points were a thing, I would have a perfect GPA.
